We would like to share a few important updates and reminders with everyone who visits and cares for The Eternal Forest. We understand how deeply important it is to have a place where you can remember and honour someone you love, and we are very grateful for the care and thought that families bring to the woodland.
Pre-bookings and pre-need reservations
Due to the limited number of plots remaining in the woodland, we are no longer able to offer pre-bookings or pre-need reservations of any kind.
We appreciate that this may be disappointing for some families, but this decision is necessary to ensure that we can manage the remaining spaces fairly and responsibly.
Grave markers and memorials
We kindly ask that before bringing or placing anything on or near a loved one’s grave, you contact us first to check that the item is permitted under our woodland regulations.
To protect the natural beauty and character of The Eternal Forest, graves must not be marked, outlined or enclosed in any way other than with one engraved grave marker. The grave marker must be made from uncut, unpolished natural stone and must not have painted inscriptions.
Please do not use stones, twigs, branches or any other materials to create a border or perimeter around a grave. We completely understand the wish to create a special and personal place of remembrance, but these additions are not permitted within the woodland.
If an item is placed on or around a grave without approval and does not comply with our regulations, we may need to remove it without prior notice. We hope that contacting us beforehand will help avoid any upset or disappointment.
Flowers, plants and natural tributes
Cut fresh flowers may be placed on a grave, provided they are not accompanied by any packaging.
A fully biodegradable wreath may also be placed on a grave.
Please note that Oasis of any kind, including biodegradable Oasis, is not permitted. This is because it can be harmful to the woodland environment.
If you would like to plant something at a loved one’s grave, plants, trees and wildflowers can be purchased from our plant nursery on the Rowan Path. Payment can be made by placing cash in the tin behind the sign or in the donation box in the Tree Bog. Seeds may also occasionally be available on the shelf in the Tree Bog. If you take seeds, please place your payment in the donation box.
If you are unsure, please ask
We know that the rules can sometimes feel restrictive, particularly when all you want to do is create a meaningful tribute to someone you love. These guidelines are in place to protect the woodland and ensure that The Eternal Forest remains a peaceful, natural and beautiful place for everyone, now and for generations to come.
If you are unsure whether something is permitted, please contact us before taking it into the woods. We are always happy to clarify the guidelines and help you find an appropriate way to remember your loved one.
Thank you for your understanding, your care for the woodland, and for helping us preserve the natural beauty and character of The Eternal Forest.
