Storm Damage October 2026

Unfortunately, our lovely woods sustained some damage in the storm this weekend. Thankfully only a fraction of the losses we experienced in 2024 but still a fair number of trees and branches have come down.

At the moment there are a few blocked paths, including the footpath between the containers and Owl. There are also a number of trees that are damaged but hung in the canopy which will need felling to make them safe.

For this reason, we are asking that visitors do not attend the woods at all if there are high winds predicted, and if possible, keep visits in general to the woods minimal until our team have been able to deal with the storm debris.

If you do visit the woods please keep to paths, do not stand underneath any trees or branches that look to be unsafe and do not attempt to move anything yourselves. We have ensured this morning that no graves were disturbed by the falling trees.

Our lovely woodsman Steve who many of you have met is unwell at the moment and will be out of the woods for some time, so it may take the rest of our team a little longer than usual to deal with the aftermath of the storm, but we do have a plan in place.

As always the storm clear up is likely to be costly, if you would like to support us with these costs, donations by bank transfer will be gratefully accepted, please get in touch for bank details.

*In order to keep our team and volunteers safe we have taken the decision to cancel our next volunteer day that was due to take place this Sunday – 1st November*
